As we enter the third week of Florida’s state-lawmaking session, our legislative roundtable series continues in a conversation with State Rep. Heather Fitzenhagen, R-Fort Myers, who represents State House District 78.  She also serves as Chair of the House Civil Justice and Claims Subcommittee.  R

ep. Fitzenhagen recently stopped by our studios for an in depth look at legislative proposals she’s championing this year touching on issues including healthcare, firearms, the environment, education, human trafficking, and much more.  We discussed Fitzenhagen’s HB 27, which seeks to eliminate the ‘certificate of need’ requirement healthcare providers must obtain before building a new hospital.  That measure will likely be voted on by the full Florida House this week.  We also explored the broader hot-button issues in the state capital including the budget itself, Florida’s opioid crisis and the growing #metoo movement.
