David Ensor - "American Public Diplomacy and Communications: From a War Zone to the Global Airwaves"

David Ensor, Director of the Voice of America, will address the Naples Council on World Affairs on Monday, February 18th, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist’s Kiney Hall, 625 11th Avenue, North Naples, at 3:45 and 7:30 pm.

How can we improve our communications with publics around the world, using the revolution in human communications currently underway? What is the role of the Voice of America, a source of balanced journalism, doing to reach foreign audiences?

Can that “balanced journalism” reach the breadth of audience that Social Media encompasses today? As Director of Voice of America, David Ensor oversees a multimedia operation broadcasting in 43 languages, reaching an estimated 141 million people each week via radio, television, mobile and internet.
Ensor joined VOA in June of 2011, following a posting as Director of Communications and Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. His long and distinguished career in broadcasting began with National Public Radio and then to ABC News where he served for 18 years as their television correspondent before joining CNN as their National Security Correspondent until 2006.

A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he received his B.A. with Honors at the University of California, Berkeley.
