Beckham's Investors are Looking at 6 Potential Sites for MLS Stadium in Miami

Wikimedia Creative Commons

After retired soccer superstar David Beckham formally announcement last week that he will bring Major League Soccer to Miami, it's time to take the next step. Beckham and his investors are looking at six possible locations in Miami for a news soccer stadium.

David Beckham and his investors are promising taxpayers that it'll be mostly privately funded. Beckham's investors want 10 to 12 acres downtown in areas that are easily accessible by public transportation. They're modeling the plan on other cities with successful major league soccer stadiums.Beckham's group has scouted about 30 locations, but so far, investors have mentioned only six of them as contenders: PortMiami, two locations near Marlins Park, Wynwood, an area near the School Board building in downtown Miami, and by Miami International Airport.

Negotiations will continue with Miami-Dade mayor Carlos Gimenez's administration today about getting a potential site to be publicly owned.
