Nonprofit Hospital Excludes Many Medicaid, Exchange Patients

According to the Miami Herald, Baptist Health South Florida is enjoying tax exempt-status and raking in millions as it makes its network unavailable to many low- and middle-income patients.

Most of the health plans sold on HealthCare.gov in Miami-Dade County don’t include Baptist’s vast network, the Herald reports. And it accepts two of the county’s nine Medicaid plans, meaning about 400,000 in Miami-Dade are shut out of the network, according to the Herald.
