A report by an independent government watchdog group called Good Jobs First says public private partnerships meant to create jobs don’t do that. Dan Krassner is Executive Director of Integrity Florida, an organization that monitors the state’s government.
He says Florida’s public private partnership is no exception.
"Enterprise Florida is our state's most glaring example of cronyism and institutional corruption", Krassner said. "It sells seats on its board to corporations for $50,000 then gives away tax payer funded subsidies and vendor contracts to them in return."
Enterprise Florida released its own report on Wednesday. In the report, they say in the last fiscal year they’ve created more than 25,000 new jobs and just under $2 million in capitol investment.
Gray Swoope, the organization’s CEO, says they’ve been successful and he looks forward to bringing more jobs to Florida.
