Gov. Rick Scott is asking three-dozen parents, educators and business leaders to look at state education standards, testing, the state school grading formula and teacher evaluations. He wants to know what they would change.
Interim education commissioner Pam Stewart says changing Florida education policies will require approval from lawmakers or the State Board of Education. But Stewart says they’ll send them suggestions from the summit.
“We aren’t walking out of here with a new school grading formula", Stewart said. "But we are going to walk out of here knowing how we’re going to move forward. And that’s going to be very helpful.
The summit wraps up Wednesday in Clearwater with discussion of the school grading formula and teacher evaluations.
