Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll Resigns

Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll has resigned, Governor Rick Scott's office announced Wednesday. 

Carroll's public relations firm has represented Allied Veterans of the World, a chain of Internet cafes alleged to have used charity as a cover for gambling.

The Internal Revenue Service, the Secret Service, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will discuss details of the investigation Wednesday afternoon in Orlando.The governor's office said in a statement Carroll didn't want the investigation to distract the Scott Administration.

Scott spokesman Adam Hollingsworth said she made the right decision.

Carroll was the first African American woman to be elected statewide in Florida.
