It's been nearly four months since former Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll resigned as Florida’s second-in-command, amid a scandal over Internet cafes. At the time, Governor Rick Scott said he'd wait till the end of the 2013 legislative session to name her replacement.
Session has now been over for more than two months, and Scott says his chief of staff has begun the search.
The governor says he's open to the idea of considering someone without political experience.
"Let’s look at the qualifications. Let’s find the best person. That’s what my plan is to do it", Scott explained. "Look, I came in from outside of politics. I had never run for office before, and I think it’s good to bring people in. It’s good to bring people with different backgrounds."
Florida Democrats say the governor is moving too slowly to fill the position. Scott has set no timetable for the announcement.
