Few Protesters at First Day of Zimmerman Trial

A couple dozen demonstrators gathered yesterday outside the Seminole County courthouse for the start of George Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial. Among them was Francis Oliver. She's a historian in Goldsboro, Sanford's historic black community, and claimed this trial would be, "a landmark trial".

Fewer demonstrators than expected turned out. Two large areas had been set aside in front of the courthouse for protesters.
Zimmerman is the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer who says he shot and killed Trayvon Martin in self-defense. The trial is expected to last four to six weeks.
