Martin Family Put Faith in Finding Impartial Jury

The family of slain teenager Trayvon Martin say they’re inspired by the honesty of potential jurors in the trial of George Zimmerman. Attorneys spent Wednesday questioning potential jurors about their knowledge of the case, and their ability to deliver a fair verdict.

In a brief statement Wednesday evening, Trayvon Martin’s father Tracy Martin said he was encouraged by the process so far.

“We are encouraged that we as a family can get justice for our son Trayvon and we ask that the public continue to come forth and be honest as potential jurors”, said Martin.

Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump said he has faith in the ability of the jury that is eventually selected to do their civic duty impartially.

He also called on the media not to perpetrate what he called “victim blaming” of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman says he shot the teen in self defense.
