Incidents of anti-Semitism rose in 2016 from 2015, nationwide and Florida had the fourth highest number of reported anti-Semitism incidents last year, according to an annual audit by the Anti-Defamation League--an advocacy group that fights anti-Semitism and other forms of hate.

That's why Licia Brooks of the Southern Poverty Law Center--another advocacy group that combats hate--will come to Temple Shalom in Naples to talk about the rise in hate groups last year.

Temple Shalom's sign was vandalized in December.

On Gulf Coast Live this week, Brooks said the first step to getting rid of hate incidents is by acknowledging them.

"If they go unchecked, we'll see an equal increase in the number of hate crimes that are targeted towards that group," she said. "It's important to call it out immediately."

Brooks speaks tonight at 7 at Temple Shalom

Temple Shalom's address is 4630 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples, FL 34119
