Telling stories may be one of humanity's oldest traditions, and the proliferation of storytelling projects like Snap Judgment and The Moth are bringing personal stories to mass audiences in ways traditional media never have.
This weekend, Storytellers Creative Arts in Naples is focusing a storytelling workshop on the Naples community with its HeART of Storytelling Conference beginning on Friday. Organizers say the conference is focused on "capturing, creating, and communicating" the stories of organizations, families and individuals.
The conference is open to anyone with an interest in telling stores, but organizer Bill Barnett says it may be of particular interest to those looking to leave a legacy for their kids who may need helping shaping their “rich family heritage” and put it in story form.
Monday at 1:30 p.m., Barnett joins the program to discuss how it came about and what he hopes to hear from the storytellers in the Naples community.
Joining the program will be featured storyteller Jim Krueger, a writer, filmmaker, video game developer, and New York Times best-selling author.
Also joining the show is another featured speaker at the conference, Dr. Bob Petterson, a pastor, writer and storyteller who authored of several books and worked with non-profits and various media organizations.
