On Memorial Day, Gulf Coast Live looks back at the Vietnam War through a panel discussion held with several veterans recently at WGCU.

After the debut screening of the WGCU documentary, “Vietnam Vets: Stories of Service,” Gulf Coast Live host Julie Glenn hosted a live panel discussion with four of the five veterans featured in the video: Army 1st Lt. Terry Brennen, Army Veterinary Corps Cpt. Tom Gillaspie, Air Force Maj.-Gen Richard E. Carr, and Air Force 1st Lt. Wayne Smith. The panel was hosted before a live audience at the WGCU Public Media studios.

Unable to join the panel, but featured in the WGCU documentary, is Marine Corps LCpl Richard Hein.

Several of the audience members were Vietnam veterans themselves, and a few shared their own stories of the war and life afterwards.

Matthew Smith is a reporter and producer of WGCU’s Gulf Coast Live.
