On Thursday of this week the City of Cape Coral is going to be presenting a fossil bone to the Cape Coral Historical Museum during a reception hosted by the Cape Coral Historical Society. The large bone fragment, which archeologists say likely belonged to a woolly mammoth or mastodon, was discovered about 17 feet underground during a utilities extension project. News of the bone’s discovery caught our eye, so we’re sitting down with Wendy Schroder, President of the Cape Coral Historical Society, to find out more.
