Hurricane Cristobal doesn't look like a typical hurricane this morning, largely due to dry air and presence of wind shear. However, conditions near the system are forecast to become more favorable for strengthening later today as it begins its journey to the north and east. Closer to home, a disturbance on the tail end of a front in the northwestern Gulf is currently not expected to develop, but certainly something we will watch closely.
In the central Atlantic, a weak tropical wave has a low chance of developing as it moves north of the Lesser Antilles this weekend. And even farther out, a much stronger wave presently moving off the west coast of Africa has a moderate to high chance of developing in the next five days. None of these other three systems pose an immediate or significant threat to Florida at the present time.
