New Leadership comes to Southwest Florida Orchestras

Big changes are underway for Southwest Florida’s classical music scene. The Charlotte Symphony’s new music director, Raffaele Ponti officially took the conductor’s baton this past fall. Andrey Boreyko will become the new maestro for the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra this coming fall, and the Southwest Florida Symphony is currently in a season-long audition process in its search for a new music director.

We’ll hear an interview with Ponti about his background, leadership style and emphasis on community outreach with the Charlotte Symphony. We’ll also talk with leadership of the Southwest Florida Symphony about the organization’s comeback after almost having to cancel its current season and the importance of choosing the right music director as their search for a new maestro continues.
