Chris King Holds Press Conference Hours Before Trump Rally

Democratic lieutenant governor candidate, Chris King, speaks at the South County Regional Library in Estero Oct. 31.

Supporters gathered early this morning outside Hertz Arena where Donald Trump will hold a rally to stump for republican candidates in Florida - including gubernatorial hopeful Ron DeSantis. A little over two miles away the Democratic lieutenant governor candidate held a press conference.

Half a dozen supporters met Chris King in front of the South County Regional Library in Estero.

King said he felt a duty to let voters know the type of candidate he and Andrew Gillum are facing.

“Tonight the president of the United States will come here to lift up a candidate who has built a campaign for governor based on lies,” King said.

King also said DeSantis lied 43 times during both gubernatorial debates. He added that during DeSantis' time in congress he voted against clean water laws 33 times, but calls himself a conservationist.

"We must have the integrity, because so much is at stake for the people of florida, to set the record straight," King said. "And make sure that the truth gets out in the days ahead of the vote."

Election day is next Tuesday, November 6th.
