A Naples photographer has released a book of local natural images, in time for Earth Day on Saturday April 22. WGCU’s Cary Barbor and Andrea Melendez tell the story:

The world’s largest pickleball event is happening this week in southwest Florida.

The red-bellied woodpecker is the most common woodpecker in Florida. Over the years they have been found to have adapted well to more urban environments and can be found in just about any habitat type from as far south as Florida and along the East coast all the way up to Canada.

The AirPower History Tour of the Commemorative Air Force had multiple planes on display at the Punta Gorda Airport over the past week. The tour will be available around Florida.

The Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance is offering hope to Immokalee's poor with its campaign to build housing for 128 families.

Members of the Cleveland Ballet visited Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, Tuesday morning. The Ballet is in Southwest Florida to give a benefit performance in Naples March 1st at a private event. At the hospital, dancers visited with patients, their families and caregivers. They also gave a short demonstration of ballet movements.

The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will clip-clop their way through Southwest Florida this week starting at the Shell Factory and Nature Park in North Fort Myers.

For the 5th year, Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife held their Ground Owl Day at Pelican Baseball Complex in Cape Coral. A short ceremony celebrated the ground owl seeing its shadow and adding 6 more weeks of winter to Southwest Florida.

Passionate defenders of Cape Coral’s burrowing owls are livid now that tractors are clearing debris from Hurricane Ian out of the city’s canals and possibly crushing dozens of owl and gopher tortoise burrows.
