TechSpark Immokalee aims to revolutionize education, bridging digital skills with real-world opportunities for students in Immokalee, Florida.

While it might be easy to say that we should all be more compassionate and kind, and have empathy for everyone around us, it’s usually not something that comes easily or naturally for most of us, and can even be seen as a sign of weakness in our highly competitive culture. As we start another year, we’re having a conversation about the importance of compassion, kindness, and empathy through the lens of Florida Gulf Coast University’s Roots of Compassion and Kindness (ROCK) Center. It's dedicated to teaching college students about compassion, using insights from psychologists, philosophers, neuroscientists, and scholars from across disciplines. We're joined by its Director and two of its faculty members.

In the Gulf of Mexico, seven and a half miles due west of Bonita Beach and thirty feet below the surface, grows an artificial reef complex created by The Water School at Florida Gulf Coast University. WGCU is producing a documentary about the reef, and providing monthly updates. Members of the Young Democratic Socialists of America at FGCU are organizing the protest against the governor's “Don’t Tread on Florida” tour stop at Alico Arena at 6 p.m. Sunday. The stop is at the end of a weekend of such campaign events across the state.

A two-week delay was announced shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday in the selection if a new president for FGCU. The selection, which had been planned for Wednesday, was delayed at the request of the state Board of Governors.
