He also worked for 25 years at The Vindicator in Youngstown, Ohio, serving as a general assignment reporter, rewrite editor, copy editor, Sunday edition editor, outdoors columnist, designer and chief of the design desk.
He graduated in 1977 with a degree in media communications from Youngstown State University where he was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper The Jambar.
He lives in Fort Myers and is originally from Peoria, Illinois.

The state of Florida is taking part in a wide-ranging lawsuit targeting a Voice Over Internet Protocol service provider for facilitating billions of illegal robocalls, with nearly 620 million of those calls made to Sunshine State residents. A news release from the office of Attorney General Ashley Moody on Wednesday said the legal action involves Florida and 48 other attorneys general in the form of a complaint against Michael D. Lansky, LLC, d/b/a Avid Telecom, its owner Michael Lansky, and its vice president Stacey S. Reeves, for allegedly initiating and facilitating billions of illegal robocalls to millions of people.

Around 1,000 members of the faith-based group, Eight Days of Hope, took to Harlem Heights to help residents who have been living without roofs or drywall and other parts of their homes since Ian bullied through last September. While they were making those critical fixes, they were getting a lot of emotional energy in return.

More than 1,000 people connected with Eight Days of Hope, an all-volunteer and faith-based national organization, rolled into Fort Myers Saturday to provide help to more than 100 families in the Harlem Heights area impacted by Hurricane Ian through free home repairs. With more than half of the nearly 20,000-acre Sandy Fire now contained officials on Monday rescinded the evacuation plan put in place days ago. All residents within the impacted area have been updated on the change in evacuation status.

As of Sunday night, the Sandy Fire was reported at 19,814 acres and 45% contained. Ground and aviation resources will continue operations Monday, continuing to hold and improve control lines around the fire.

The nearly two-week long Sandy Fire in the Big Cypress National Preserve in Collier County burned closer to U.S. 41 Friday prompting the Florida Highway patrol to issue a closure order.Containment on the wildfire has increased as crews tied control lines into U.S. 41 on the east flank of the fire. The fire grew several thousand acres from Wednesday into Thursday and was at 15,130 acres and 30% contained.
