The Florida Department of Transportation will host online and in-person outreach meetings June 25 and 27 for public viewing and input on the Daniels Parkway Interchange Improvement Project in Lee County.

The pain of recent periodic closures on the Caloosahatchee River Bridge due to a construction project is expected to be mitigated by a 10-week total shutdown of the U.S. 41 span that will begin May 31.

More than 50 pieces of heavy equipment as well as law enforcement vehicles including helicopters, ambulances and fire trucks, will be spread out inside Hertz Arena Saturday for what’s being called SW Florida’s Largest Touch-A-Truck Event.The event is a collaboration between the Florida Department of Transportation and the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

To deal with growing traffic demand on local infrastructure, a new kind of interchange is coming to the intersection of I-75 and Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers.The diverging diamond interchange will replace the current intersection, which is organized with traditional cross-traffic left-turn lanes using traffic lights.

Local Moving Florida Forward program project timelines were released during a media briefing by Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez in Fort Myers on Monday. The projects entail more than $700 million in investments for Lee and Collier counties, including expected construction timelines for: I-75 at Pine Ridge Road, I-75 from Golden Gate Parkway to Corkscrew Road, State Road 29 from County Road 846 East to New Market Road, and State Road 29 from New Market Road to State Road 82.

A public hearing for a Metro Parkway at Daniels Parkway intersection re-evaluation will be held in-person: July 27, 2023, from 5 – 7 p.m. with an open house from 5-6 p.m. before the formal hearing at 6 p.m. and live online from 6 – 7 p.m. with an overview for how to submit comments at 5:45 p.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation will host in-person and virtual public meetings June 22 and 29 for the SR 78 (Pine Island Road) Proposed Corridor Vision Plan in Lee County.

On Saturday, two maintenance crew workers were attempting to cross I-75 in a Gator utility vehicle for debris removal and were struck by a vehicle. They faced non-incapacitating injuries and expect to make a full recovery.

Florida Department of Transportation had mandated that the West Winterberry Bridge in Marco Island be closed to all traffic immediately. It reopened Friday.
